Evaluationof our two filming days

Dean and I went out to film our music video on Tuesday 2nd November and Wednesday 3rd November. On the Tuesday we filmed the narrative and the parts where the lead singer is singing on his own and on Wednesday we filmed the band performing. On Tuesday morning we had problems finding people to play as the original actors had dropped out the night before because they couldn’t get out of school. In the end we had Charlotte Mawer as the main girl in the narrative, Samuel Law as the lead singer for the band and Dean Sargent and me for any extra actors that we needed. In the morning we filmed the main narrative that happened at Deans’ house and then during the afternoon we filmed everything that was outside. We did it like this as during the afternoon the weather was likely going to stay roughly the same until we finished filming so we wouldn’t have had too much problems with any continuity with the weather.
On Wednesday morning we found out we only had 2 band members out of the original 4 because of people dropping out due to school problems. When we started filming we decided to have Samuel Law as the lead singer and guitarist and Matt Davey as the other guitarist. Some problems that arised during the day was that Sam hadn’t learnt all the words and didn’t know how to play guitar. This is a problem as he looks very still on the recording which isn’t what a typical rock singer would look like. Even though Sam couldn’t play guitar we needed CU of the band members playing their instruments so Matt played both guitars for each of the CU. Another problem was we couldn’t get the background that we had originally planned to do which was having the words across the wall. After research we found out that buying stuff to do it would’ve been too expensive so instead of covering the whole wall we just covered the window to show the idea we had and also make sure that any light we didn’t want coming in wasn’t able to while we were filming.
After putting our footage on the apple macs, we realised that we needed to improve some of our shots, so we decided to film on Saturday 13th November. We filmed both the band performing and also some parts of the narrative. We had a tight time schedule due to other people involved needing to other things during the day. We managed to film the band performing from 11:45 til 1:15. We thought that we needed to re-film this part as we needed more camera angles of guitars being played and also of Sam Law singing. After about half 1 we then went to the Wellhead park and re-film some footage there. We felt we needed to do this as once we put it on the macs before hand the camera work was very wobbly as we had no tripod and also it was windy so you can tell when my hand didn't have full control over the camera. One problem we had with this shot was the park was very busy so we had to wait to be able to get on the swings as other children were on them due to it being a saturday. Overall this filming day went well as we manged to get alot of shots done in the short time frame we had and we also have alot of shots to improve our editting with, for example camera angles.
